WD are generally up there with the best in terms of quality and reliability. So TLDR yes that will work fine, WD is great I bought the Seagate even though I'm not a big Seagate fan, as it's currently higher rated, and looks great. Yes you could build one, but again price becomes a large factor. There's also not that many 7200 portable's out there, fewer desktop ones than you'd think, and are more expensive. I actually ended up going with the Seagate Backup Plus Slim ( ), and I've had no issues. I also scoured this sub and online reviews for a few months before I bought one. I'm a WD guy, I've had bad luck with Seagate's for years.
